In
1980, Carole Beattie began exhibiting Wire Haired Fox and Welsh Terriers. Since
then, breeding and exhibiting under her kennel name of “Sunspryte”,
she has a combined total of over 100 champions and multiple Best in
Shows, in both breeds. In
1991, she set a new Welsh Terrier breed record with home bred
littermates having multiple Best in Shows, and the bonus of them going
Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex at Madison Square Garden. The Best of Breed went on to place fourth in the Group. In 1999,
one of her Welsh breeding won the Terrier Group at the Garden.
Now, as a licensed
AKC judge, Carole no longer exhibits terriers, but she remains active in
breeding and has bred some top terriers in the country throughout the
years.
Granted
approval by the AKC to first judge Terriers in 1991, she is currently approved
to judge the Terrier, Toy and Sporting groups. She also judges best in show competition.
In addition to being a proud member
of the Breeders Hall of Fame of the Wire Fox Terrier Club of Central
States, she is a two term past President of both the Welsh Terrier Club
of America and the Greater Venice Florida Dog Club Inc.
Carole is Chairman of Judges
Education for the Welsh Terrier Club of America and recently received
the Distinguished Service Award from the Wire Fox Terrier
Club.

Until retiring,
Carole was a Professional Member of the American Society of
Interior Designers (ASID) and licensed by the State of Florida to
practice Interior Design. And she finds that when it comes to her
dogs, her design background
helps ...balance, balance, balance.
